George Washington Carver
1864-1943
George Washington Carver was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri before the Civil War. Before sustainability was popular, George Washington Carver promoted responsible farming by rotating the planting of peanuts with cotton. Mr. Carver was the first African American to graduate from Iowa State University, with a Master’s degree. He later became the Agricultural Director at Tuskegee University, which is an Historical Black College, through a job offer by Booker T. Washington. In 1916 George Washington Carver published a manuscript on How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it. He was a premiere scientist in his day.
